Per a suggestion from Nikhil, I added some code to the blog's trackback handler. When a trackback ping comes in, the trackback handler turns around and scrapes the (supposed) source page. On that page, it looks for a link to my blog. Make sense? The idea is that if your blog is sending a trackback ping to my blog, it's because an entry in your blog points to mine. If the source page doesn't exist, or if it doesn't contain a link to my blog, then you're probably a spammer, ain't ya? Coz why else would you be sending me a trackback ping?

Problem is, it's kind of tough to test. Perhaps someone would be so kind as to send me a trackback and let me know if it works. (I'll delete the trackback if it's just a test.)

This isn't in the download yet; I want to make sure first it works. Or doesn't not work, anyway.

Update 17 Aug 05  Based on the trackback that was saved for this entry, it looks as if the filtering process is working ok. Thanks to Jason for testing!
